The success of new businesses based at Maylands Business Centre is proving the concept that with the right kind of support, small businesses can thrive.

Opened in September 2011, Maylands Business Centre has gone from strength to strength and has become a popular and valuable resource for businesses looking for their first premises.  Several of the centre’s tenants have expanded: one business saw 80% growth since moving in and others have moved to larger premises.

The American BBQ Company, a tenant at Maylands Business Centre, said: “The Maylands Business Centre has provided us with a base we’ve been able to expand in, a support structure that that has helped smooth the transition from home business to limited company, and access to a group of like-minded business people who have provided invaluable advice.”

Cllr Terry Douris, Portfolio Holder for Planning and Regeneration, said: “Maylands Business Centre represents the Council’s commitment to supporting small and start-up businesses to establish themselves and flourish.  I’m delighted at how successful the Business Centre has been and we are now forecasting that the centre will have paid back the Council’s investment nine months earlier than we originally planned.”
