Religion

Dacorum aims to meet its multi-cultural community’s needs by providing a variety of religious establishments including numerous assorted Churches and a Buddhist Monastery and a nearby Hindu Bhaktivedanta Manor. Situated just outside of the Borough are the Hindu Bhaktivedanta Manor, Watford Sikh Association and Radlett and Bushey Reform Synagogue.

Dacorum Interfaith Network intends to unite citizens of all religions and philosophies across the borough with monthly meetings to share wisdom, different experiences of religion and life in the borough.

Community Centres

These are located across the borough and are well supported by the communities within which they are located. They can be found in Adeyfield, Apsley, Benetts End, Chaulden, Gadebridge, Grove Hill, Highfield, Kings Langley, Leverstock Green, Tring, Warners End and Woodhall Farm.Dacorum Communities for Learning provides training in local community centres for computer and leisure courses, such as languages, arts and crafts.

There is a thriving Voluntary Sector in Dacorum and a wealth of community groups covering all sorts of interests and hobbies from photography to bird watching.

The Communities Together Group in Dacorum celebrates diversity and difference and gives everyone the opportunity to enjoy life and succeed in their goals. The group meets every two months and aim to bring together all types of community groups from across the borough to improve cohesion; these groups include the Deaf Parenting Association, Hemel Islamic Society, Global Pindd, Bangladeshi Welfare Association and Community Action Dacorum.

Libraries

Libraries run by Hertfordshire County Council can be found across the borough, within Adeyfield, Berkhamsted, Bovingdon, Hemel Hempstead, Kings Langley, Leverstock Green and Tring. A mobile library service also travels around the borough on a fortnightly basis increasing access for all members of the community.

Fairtrade Communities

Dacorum's three main towns Hemel Hempstead, Berkhamsted and Tring all gained Fairtrade Town Status in previous years. This incorporates Fairtrade retailers, businesses, cafes, restaurants, takeaways and schools in the Borough.
