This Saturday, July 19 the high street in the Old Town Hemel Hempstead was alive with excitement and filled with people enjoying the festival that businesses and Dacorum Borough Council had put together.

There was something for everyone, from live music to a variety of stalls selling a vast range of goods.  Plus there was something for the taste buds too, food from the Caribbean and Asia rubbed shoulders with the more traditional sandwiches.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Dacorum Borough Council Cllr Allan and Mrs Wendy Lawson opened the event by cutting the ribbon at the newly installed ornate iron gates,  human Statues of Anne Boleyn and Henry the Eighth welcomed people as they jostled through to be met by  the Rock Choir who gave an outstanding performance.

Mike Penning MP for Hemel Hempstead warmly welcomed everyone to the stage and opened the start of the stage events.

It was a really fantastic day…..the sun shone and the thousands of people turn out to celebrate the launch of the Old Town High Street.  There was a real community spirt.

Dacorum Look no Further were proud to be sponsoring this year’s Chilfest, music festival in Tring.

Over the weekend of Friday 4 July – Sunday 6 July Chilfest saw lots of acts from the 80’s & 90’s, on the Sunday the @DacorumLNF team met with Union J backstage with the band happy to help put Dacorum on the map!

For the first time Dacorum will be hosting a stage of the Friends Life Tour of Britain, Britain’s biggest professional bike race.

We look forward to welcome the world’s top cyclist as they race into Gadebridge Park, Hemel Hempstead on Friday 12 September 2014.

The 2014 Tour of Britain will begin in Liverpool on Sunday 7 September, finishing eight days later in central London with a double – header final day, featuring an individual time trial and circuit race finishing on Whithall.

Stage six, the penultimate stage in the race, crosses the country from the start in Bath, heading through Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire on its way to a challenging final section through the heart of the Chilterns.

At just over 200 kilometres, the stage will be one of the longest of the 2014 Tour of Britain.
